2016 overview

2016 in review…

As our fifth year in business draws to an end we take a look back on what has been a great year; after the success of opening our first shop back in 2014 we this year moved across the road to a bigger and better premises. We also went VAT registered this year in a move which shows the growth that has been made over the past twelve months.

Whilst the company has grown our range of products has also grown; personalised pens, mugs, canvases and greetings cards to name but a few. We are always looking to expand what we can offer to better suit our customers’ needs and 2017 promises to be even better.

So, why did we move across the road?

A lot of companies find that they need to move for various reason but few move literally across the road so what was the thinking behind it?

The easy answer is it’s a much better plot, whereas our first shop was a great starting point it was sandwiched in between several other shops, it had very limited advertising space with just the one window and, for those who came in during the Winter months would know, it was absolutely freezing!

In contrast, our new home; number 26 rather than 49 Westoe Road, is situated on a corner, meaning we have four large windows and three sides to promote ourselves with; a larger and more welcoming office area, double-glazing so we and our customers don’t freeze and a side street to park in. That mixed in with there only being one neighbour now – not that we’re anti-social or anything – we are now a lot more visible to the world, just the way we like it. If you haven’t checked out our new premises then pop along in the new year.

The move also gave us the opportunity to have a bit of a play with the branding. Whilst the logo as such as stayed the same from conception it didn’t provide enough oomph on a white background like we had on the first shop. We, therefore, decided to go for a nice deep blue with a white “silhouette” logo to marry up with some of the advertising we had been doing before the move. It looks so much better, stands out without looking tacky, makes describing where we are to people easy, “…the big blue shop on the corner of Derby terrace” does the trick, and is so much easier to keep clean than a white sign.

As mentioned previously, we are now VAT registered and whilst this is often met with trepidation it’s not all bad news for our customers. We have tweaked most of the prices accordingly and whilst some have gone up some have also gone down, 500 business cards for example have gone from £55 to £45 + VAT or £54 all in in other words.

There’s a lot of things going on in the background and we will be back nice and refreshed and ready to take on 2017 and look forward to having you all along for the ride.

Merry Christmas and have a great New Year everyone!
